Traditional Ayurveda was born in the Second century. The divulgence of the medicinal wisdom is shrouded in mystery, and is found in ancient texts called Vedas. The Vedas were written over a span of time by saints and sages, also known as Rishis, whom were profound transmitters and messengers of cosmic knowledge. Ayurveda is only one branch of the many Vedas dictated by the Rishis, and is the oldest most thorough description of the science of health care known to date. The eight branches of ayurveda are:
- Kaya Chikitsa : General Medicine.
- Bala Chikitsa : Obstetrics, Gynecology & Pediatrics.
- Graha Chikitsa : Psychiatry.
- Shalakya Tantra : ENT and Ophthalmology.
- Shalya Tantra : Surgery.
- Agada Tantra / Visha Chikitsa : Toxicology.
- Jara / Rasayana Tantra : Geriatrics.
- Vajikarana : Reproductive sciences.
The thorough descriptions and wide span of knowledge found in these texts has baffled modern science as they've made "new" discoveries and developed "new" technologies that were propounded by these sages thousands of years ago. The accuracy by which systems of the body and surgical procedures were described, along with the level of intricacy of descriptions and prescriptions that were written rivals that of some of the most cutting edge modern medicine. It is difficult for the western allopathic mind to comprehend that such sciences were so elegantly described by such primitive societies, and even harder to grasp the nature by which that knowledge came about.
The art of seeking begins with identifying with our ignorance. As soon as we believe we know something, the doors to knowing more are shut, and our mind stays content with the limited definition it has attained. True seekers, like the Rishis who brought the vedas to the world, never identified with their knowledge, but simply let the wisdom pass through them according to the needs of the present moment and the people. This art of seeking, of letting go of the limited definitions and the desire to draw lines between the dots, is what has kept these channels of wisdom open in the ancient healing traditions of India since the dawn of time. This is a large reason why so many holy people are still born out of this ancient land today, and why it has become a mecca for those who are seeking to live beyond their personal limitations and experience spiritual growth.
This is why; SakhiVeda™, because it is still intimately connected to the lineage of saints, gurus, healers, and Rishis that practice the art of seeking, and therefore have preserved the presence of heart and mind to truly create healing space, and experience the intuition to find and fix the issues and ailments of the patient. It is beyond text book descriptions and diagnoses that examine through the dissected allopathic lens. It assimilates classic Ayurveda with modern medicine and ties in the wholeness of the person through intuition and the art of seeking. Seeking allows true discovery of root causes and factors of disease where the pathology must be addressed to initiate healing, instead of making assumptions of knowledge based on limited descriptions of symptomatology.
SakhiVeda™ is healing brought on by seeking on the part of the patient and the practitioner. When both are open to the answers that come, the doors of illumination are opened to them.
